Our storyNotre histoire
A small Canadian house, with roots elsewhere.
Une petite maison canadienne, avec des racines ailleurs.
Teawise is a young company. We make one tea: olive leaf, the leaf overlooked by every brand we grew up with. This page is for the small group of people who, before they buy a tea, want to know who is selling it to them, and why.
FounderLe fondateur
I started Teawise because I couldn’t find this tea anywhere.
I’m Asad. I was born in Canada, but at fifteen my family moved back to Gujrat, in the Punjab, where my father is from. My mother’s side is in Lahore, with older roots in Jhelum. I lived there for three years before coming home to Toronto. Tea was on the table morning, afternoon, and evening. Chai, mostly. Made the proper way, never rushed. I didn’t drink much of it then. I was a teenager. The tea was for the adults.
I didn’t think about tea seriously until I was back in Canada and started reading, really reading, what I was drinking. The big brands were everywhere, all sealed in plastic-mesh sachets that shed microplastic into your cup. I started looking for something that wasn’t that. Olive leaf came up in research, again and again, and almost no one was selling it. The huge tea companies have hundreds of blends. None of them had this one. That gap was the entire reason I started Teawise.
I’m twenty. I run Teawise out of Toronto while finishing an HVAC diploma at Centennial College. The brand is small on purpose. One tea. One sachet. No additives. No factory blend. If we ever add a second tea, it will be because something earned its place. Not because we needed more SKUs.
The leafLa feuille
Why olive leaf.
Olive trees have been part of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern life for thousands of years. The fruit makes the oil; the oil makes the cuisine. The leaves, pruned each spring and usually discarded, were brewed into a quiet daily tea long before tea leaves arrived from the East.
The flavor is unlike anything in the camellia family. Faintly bitter at first, then rounding into something gentler, almost faintly sweet. There is no astringency, no caffeine, and no need to time the steep with a stopwatch. It tastes like a leaf, in the best way.
The leaves contain oleuropein, the compound that gives extra-virgin olive oil its peppery edge. We don’t make claims about what it does for you. We only know it makes a remarkable cup of tea, and that the world’s largest tea brands have ignored it for a hundred years. That’s reason enough for a small house to take it seriously.
The leaf the world overlooked. We picked it up.
The leaf, the supplierLa feuille, le producteur
Where it comes from.
We work with a single producer who hand-harvests organic olive leaves and cures them slowly. No machine drying, no flavor additives, nothing else in the sachet. Our supplier holds international organic certifications and provides third-party lab results for purity, pesticides, and heavy metals.
We do not romanticize the supply chain. We are a young Canadian company, and the people who grow our leaf live on the other side of the world. What we can promise is that we vet what we sell, taste every batch before we ship it, and refuse anything that does not meet the bar.
We are still learning the full story of where this leaf comes from. As we know more, we will say more.
What we don’t claimCe que nous ne promettons pas
Quietly, what we are not.
We are not a wellness brand. We do not heal, transform, or cure.
We are not an ancient apothecary. We are a small company started in 2024.
We do not whisper benefits the way other brands do. We let the leaf speak.
We are a tea. That is all, and that is enough.
